26 Mar Florida Regional Center Helps to Ride for MS
March 26, 2012
Florida Regional Center Executive, Nicholas Mastroianni, Supports MS Through Donation to Local Cyclist.
World Wide and Local Cyclists alike are gearing up to participate in the world famous Bike MS Break Away to Key Largo. Nicholas Mastroianni of the Florida Regional Center saw this as an opportunity to sponsor one of the 3,000 riders in the event. As the largest cycling event in the state of Florida, riders raise money to help fight MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and then complete a 50, 75, 110, or 150-mile route in support of fighting MS. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. The symptoms include blurred or double vision, numbness or tingling in the limbs and can become as severe as paralysis or total loss of vision. Diagnosis usually occurs between the ages of 15 and 50, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects are life-long. Cyclists ride for those who cannot, to find a cure, and to create a world free of multiple sclerosis. Nicholas Mastroianni’s donation helped the rider reach his goal of $1,000 towards the research and development of a cure for MS, as nearly one person every hour is diagnosed with the condition every hour across the world. The event kicks off on April 21, 2012, starting at the Homestead-Miami Speedway and ending in Key Largo, Florida. The Florida Regional Center saw this as not only an opportunity to support a local cyclist but also an opportunity to help participate in finding a cure for MS and bringing a healthy and normal life back to those who have become affected by the disease.
