Rich Chinese Emigrating with Help of EB-5 Immigrant Investor Programs

The majority of emigrants become “investment immigrants,” using programs developed by other nations to boost local economies. Examples include the United States’ EB5 Immigrant Investor program, which offers green cards in exchange for investments of $500,000 or $1M.

 

From 2007 to 2011, Chinese applications for the US EB5 visa program have increased 100%. Furthermore, the US government reached its maximum allowance of approvals in 2012, meaning competition will increase in 2013.

 

The CASS survey suggests that the people leaving China for better education and better pensions, among other reasons.

 

As was reported by the Wall Street Journal:
Cui Yu, a 31-year-old mother interviewed by China Daily, said “I have discussed the plan with my husband and we have reached the conclusion that if we want to provide a better education and living environment with more career choices for our children, immigration is the best solution.”

 

This study follows a recently released Pew Research study that reported low morale among Chinese citizens concerning politics and way of life in China. Other studies list concerns over pollution, corruption and food safety as reasons for dismay.
